The Great River Nile is the biggest of these and was once the main attraction of explorers. Uganda has its share of diversity with savannah grasslands, dense forests and quiet lakes overlooked by high mountains. Uganda has its own unique attractions. The Kazinga Channel that separates Lake George from Lake Edward is said to have the largest concentration of hipp o in Africa and in the impenetrable forests of Bwindi, the rare and al most extinct Mountain Gorilla may be seen, although only a few are use d to human contact. Further north on the foothills of the Mountains of the Moon (Ruwenzoris), chimpanzees and other species of primates can be glimpsed in the pristine Kibale forest.
Uganda is also rich in wetlands which has given rise to prolific bird life bringing into the country thousands of bird lovers. The greatest number of travelers to this East Africa country are, however, drawn by the Mountain Gorillas. Apart from gorillas other wildlife species that are found here include chimps, elephants, lions and cheetahs, leopards and jackals, hippos and crocodiles and a wide variety of African antelopes.
